Work In Progress

September 18, 2009

Here is a little something I started last week for Matt’s birthday. Sorry for the poor lighting, I was using my parents dining room (the only place I could find with room to get the sewing machine out) and there isn’t a lot of natural light.

I’ll show you the finished article when I remember to photograph it!

I’ve been lucky enough to be featured today in an interview for Donna’s blog! She makes the most beautiful fairies and art dolls which she sells in her shop. You can read the interview here.

Moopy meets… Justin Langer!

September 12, 2009

Since we are trying to retain some shred of dignity today in the 1 day series against Australia (We lost the first 3 games, getting progressively worse) I thought it would be a good chance to show you this.

A few weeks ago we watched Somerset play Sussex at their home ground of Taunton. It was a good game (Somerset won, woo!) and went on fairly late because it was a day-night game. (At this point I’d like to apologise to any non-cricket fans, a day-night game starts in the late afternoon so people can often get there after work and goes on with floodlights after dark. Try here if you want to know anything about the game.) Because of the huge queues to get out of the ground and the car park we decided to hang around a bit to see if we could meet any of the players. The only other people doing this were a crowd of 10 year old boys wanting autographs and some of their pushy dads (“Get that one boys! He’s a good one to get!”)

Moopy is quite the cricket fan so we’d taken him with us, and he insisted on staying right until the last minute so he could meet the Somerset captain, Justin Langer. Luckily for us, when he finally emerged Justin was most obliging and even gave Moopy a kiss before posing for a photo. (Even if he did look completely mystified by the whole thing. I guess it made a change from all the young lads asking for autographs!)

Thanks very much Mr Langer for making a little rabbit very happy!

Things to do

September 9, 2009

Today is one of those days when I’m finding it really hard to get anything done. You know the ones. Picking things up only to put them down again 10 minutes later, starting something and losing the motivation to finish it, not quite being able to concentrate on any one thing because there are a million others to think about.

Maybe it’s the change in the weather making me restless, moving towards autumn when we were promised another week of sunshine! Anyway… Here are a few new bits of jewellery I’ve been working on. They’re all available in my shop.

Off to try to get something done with the day, I think some list making is called for…

Old Town Poole

September 2, 2009

It’s a very wet, miserable day here today so I’m looking back at some pictures I took at the weekend. We had a nice walk in the evening sunshine around the old part of town behind the quay.

There are lots of pretty cobbled streets with flowers spilling out from around doors and old fashioned buildlings and lamps. There are also a lot of traditional pubs and souvenir shops and it’s a very popular area with tourists.

Every friday evening throughout the summer the quay fills up with car fanatics showing off their shiny vehicles in a different theme every week. It’s quite good fun to watch them all driving along the seafront and the noise frm the engines can be amazing! That was certainly the case this week as it was classic American car night.

There were some very pretty cars, especially the red one and the yellow and white one, (I’m not an expert- can you tell?!) My favourite picture is this one above which was actually captured by Matt.

Hope you had a nice weekend too, I’ve got a work in progress to show you soon, and hopefully finish in the next couple of days.
